Sep 2007: Cloudgate or bean by Anish Kapoor is "a poetic idea about the city it reflects", Chicago. Jewish artist, Bombay-born, half-Indian half-Iraqi, and British national: as multi-dimensional as his multi-award-winning works. This is the bean's navel (Omphalos) where infinite concave mirrors converge. The navel: former life-source, core of one's being, the button to your soul. Depending on the focal length of each "plane", one object forms infinitely different images. Look eye-to-eye at your reflection in all its avatars.

Why Orwell matters
Sep 2006: Every Saturday, Portobello Road in London is home to the world's largest antiques market. En route from Notting Hill tube station to the market, you can see this landmark where the great George Orwell lived. Related: my review of Animal Farm.

Break on through to the other side
Sep 2006: A chance picture of tradition vs change in London. Every other day, thousands gather at the gates of Buckingham Palace at least an hour before the Royal Tradition of Change of Guard begins. The ceremony lasts for 30 minutes with much fanfare. As the old guards leave on a public street marking the culmination of the ceremony and all tourist eyes are on the march, it is business as usual for the cool and composed young local with an iPod who breaks on through to the other side.
Not the best composed or quality shot. It is hard to get things right in a jiffy.

Bright side of the moon
Sep 2006: The combination of the setting sun and rising moon presents some of the most breathtaking moments in our travels. This one is from the walkway leading from the Tower Hill tube station to the Tower bridge. The Tower of London is popular as the home to the Crown Jewels of the Queen (now of the UK). It is not unusual to see the halls filled with immigrants from former British colonies staking their ownership claims by clicking pictures alongside "their" jewels.
